Run to Acapulco

Dad
Run to Acapulco,

We arrived in Acapulco on a breezy Monday afternoon. A long 70NM run starting in Punta De Papanoa at 0300. Don Pelley and I were up at the wee hours following Red Sky out of the small fishing anchorage into the black night and a calm sea. We picked up a little bit of wind along the way but for the most part it was a motor day. We had a few concerns about Acapulco after following the news and the stories that travel word of mouth or through the taxi driver information forum that runs in every mexican town along our path. The last driver in Z-town told us stay clear of Acapulco the trouble is everywhere and they take no discretion if you are in the way.

So we arrived with caution and were ready to bolt on a moments notice. The reality is we were well received by all, starting with Hugo and Alex the guys that manage the mooring ties outside Club De Yates Acapulco.
These guys ran us into town to shop even pushed the cart and helped pick the good produce. Alex even took Don and Kathie to the airport.
We walked to the famous cliff diving from are mooring in Acapulco traditional zone. After the diving we took a long walk along the old traditional zone malecon which is no populated with fishing pangs and a few older party boats.

The Gold and Diamond Zones are very impressive hard to believe they are having a drug cartel war in a City with so much going on and so much development. The highlight of are couple of days was the lights at night around the bay. We hope they get the cartel war over soon and have put Acapulco on are must return list.
