Bundaberg is about 350 km north of Brisbane with the marina located 15 km downstream of the city in the Port near the mouth of the Burnett River. Petite Ourse is currently moored at a dock in the marina while we visit the local area and further afield.
Right now the flamboyant trees are ablaze with red flowers and the iconic kangaroo is visible nearly every day near sunset feeding in the fields close to the marina. Koalas are rare in the wild but we visited a nearby zoo which cares for several rescue koalas. Temperatures are constantly in the 30s during the day.
We are enjoying the largest mangos in the south Pacific and watermelons both of which are in season now. A seafood outlet is located near the marina and we have fresh fish, crabs, and prawns readily available. A small supermarket is located in the village of Burnett Heads about a half hour walk from the boat otherwise a daily marina shuttle is available to take you into the city of Bundaberg.
