Sri Lanka Arrived
01 March 2016 | Trincomalee Harbour
We anchored February 24th in Trincomalee Harbour at 8 in the morning after 8 days and 19 hours passage from Telaga Harbour in Langkawi, Malaysia. The winds were superb for the first 6 days and we were boosted with a current of up to two knots. At times Petite Ourse was nearing 9 knots over the ground. The last two days however, the wind dropped under 10 knots and the current disappeared. Still one of the fastest and easiest passages yet.
In Trincomalee, there were 5 sailboats in the harbour when we arrived of which 4 have now departed. The harbour anchorage is completely protected from waves and strong winds so we can leave the boat and feel secure in doing so. The inflatable dinghy is left at the Police Wharf with no problems. We did visited the interior of Sri Lanka for a couple of days with Axel, our crew on the passage, and will head back out for 5 days or so tomorrow. Axel is now back in France probably sleeping off his night climb to Adam’s Peak with the pilgrims.
