Are we cruising yet?

Judy Ray
Pie in the Sky is sitting on stands at Anacapa Boatyard getting her first coat of paint in nearly 25 years. Yes. 25 years. She is looking remarkably good given that kind of neglect, but alas the overly stringent regulations at her old marina at Lake Mead national recreation area prevented any bottom cleaning, sanding or god forbid painting on public land. She is at last free and Joe Slagle yacht services is restoring her to original beauty. By the end of February we will resplash her and have a renaming ceremony and then the fun really begins.
Vessel Name: Pie in the Sky
Vessel Make/Model: Krogen 38 Cutter
Hailing Port: Oxnard, CA
Crew: David and Judy Ray
About:
We are from Tucson, AZ and slowly getting our boat ready for cruising in retirement aboard Pie in the Sky, our 1984 Krogen 38 sailboat. We have two adult children and four parrots. Our plans are for a staggered retirement, with Dave going first in 2019 and Judy several years later. [...]
Extra: Dave is a lifelong sailor but Judy is a newbie and still nervously clutches the rails when the boat heels. Her only New Year's resolution for 2015 is to stop doing that!
