Well here we got a pic of"supposed to be" Bryan Adams's place on the right, the little shiny roof just left of middle of picture, is Mick Jagger's and Jerry Hall's on the left......now whether this is so, we will not know, because according to our taxi driver, Mick Jagger was on the Island........when we got back to the Schooner, they told us that if anybody famous is on the Island, no cameras are allowed, and the place would be swarming with security...so........

We decided to go on a trip to the Island of Mustique, on a local Schooner. A 2 hour sail, with breakfast, Lunch and tea, champagne, all drinks included, and was a great day being spoilt and also seeing such a beautiful Island. This Island is where a lot of celeb's own houses, was interesting to see all the mansions. When any of the celeb's are on the Island, no cameras are allowed, and it is possible that you may be sitting in the famous Basil's Bar, right next to a celeb. We saw, from a distance, homes of Brian Adams, Mick Jagger & Jerry Hall, plus a few others. This is a pic of the Schooner "Friendship Rose".

On our way back on our tour, our taxi driver decides to stop, and says he just wants to see a friend, he disappears and comes back with a "local" meal of chicken & chips for us all to share...wow...we were shocked, then he stopped for coconuts for drinks, which I insisted I pay for, as he was prepared to pay for that as well. He eventually dropped us off in town and we spent a bit of time doing some shopping.....lots of people....not used to that. Then decided to go for a beer on the way to the ferry and had a few.......when we were ready to leave, the owner asked where we are going..., so we say to catch the ferry at 04:00pm, he says it is only 3:45 and then buys us a round.......again..wow.....we did get the ferry in the end....this pic shows St Vincent in the distance.

They now they have a restaurant/bar and gift shop located here, they also have some photos of the actors and crew with signatures displayed on a board in the bar. We were going to have lunch here but decided to wait till we got back to town, the menu was not that great. This statue is in the middle of the restaurant..

One of the film sites of the film, Pirates of the Caribbean is this bay, called Wallilabou Bay. We were told that there were many locations around St Vincent used for filming. This is a pic showing the famous arch of rock where the hangings in the movie took place.

When the ferry docked, before we could even get off the ferry, the taxi drivers were in our faces........after telling them a few times we just wanted to see the town first, which was right there........we decided to bargain with one of them to take us on a bit of a tour, and we wanted to go to where the movie, Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed. We paid EC$150 for the 3 of us, for about 3 hours, there and back. Again we were dissappointed, as there was really not much left to see, well not nearly as much as we had expected. Here is a pic of one of the buildings, which they are trying to repair....

Then we decided, because of our limited time, we took a ferry across to the Island of St Vincent, which was about an hours trip. This pic is entering the port of Kingstown, St Vincent. We expected more than we saw and were a bit dissappointed with St Vincent.

There are more facilities and restaurants in Bequia than any of the other Grenadines Islands, good dingy docks to tie to, a good vegi market for fresh supplies and yacht chandlery as well. There were also many super yachts and ships visiting here which was always great to see, yachts and ships we had only seen in magazines, were now anchoring in the same bay as Pizzazz....great stuff. It is also a beautiful bay with great beaches.

So after sailing the whole day, with the wind direction coming from exactly from where we wanted to go to, we zig-zagged our way there, we eventually had to try the motor again, as were battling to get into the bay due to the strong current, so I started the motor and she started.....with a close eye on the gauges, we motored for 3 hours, with not a hiccup or any overheating and eventually dropped anchor at about 7:30pm in the dark.

So time to move on again, after a few days we upped anchor and sailed around east of Union Island and across to the west side of Mayreau Island, with a good breeze and still a bit of motor for battery charging, we closed in on Mayreau. All of a sudden the alarms for the engine went off and had to cut motor immediately, I went down and checked around and saw nothing unusual, just the engine had overheated. So we had to now sail to Bequia and luckily Bequia is a nice open bay to sail into and anchor. We new we would be able to get parts or help in Bequia, rather than anywhere else.

When going ashore we alway docked Pod on the dingy jetty at the Yacht Club, and after all our walking around and shopping, we always stopped off at the Yacht Club for a refreshment....they actually have a notice stating that docking your dingy there, would cost EC$5 unless you spend money at the club, then is free.....This is a view from the Club, of the dingy jetty. The pond had some sharks in it, when we first got there.

This is a view from Pizzazz, of Happy Island, which is situated within the reef of Clifton Harbour. It is owned by a local and you can go there for a drink anytime of the day, he has some good Caribbean music playing and it is wonderful for sundowners, his prices are more expensive than normal, but the setting is just great.

After settling our anchor off Hillsborough, we launched Pod (our dingy) and went into town to do some shopping and check out of Carriacou. We decided to stay over night and leave in the morning. The following morning we lifted anchor and had another great sail into Clifton harbour, Union Island. Here we had to change flags, so Di got the opportunity to raise her newly painted flag, including the yellow flag.

So we left Tyrrel Bay and sailed around to Hillsborough, a good breeze and 2 hours later we were anchored off Hillsborough.

So we prepared Pizzazz & Pod (our dingy) for the trip, first to Hillsborough, the capital of Carriacou, to check out. Then the plan was to sail from Hillsborough to Union Island to check into the Grenadines, and then straight up to Bequia.

Then it was time for me to return. My travel to Grenada all went according to plan. I had to stay over in Grenada, due to my flight arriving after the last flight to Carriacou, so I checked into the Lazy Lagoon Cottages as well. The next morning I was on the first flight to Carriacou. My welcome home dinner that night was this crayfish.... I did battle to get it into the pot though....

We were strolling along the beach when we came across this place, called Snagg's, the guy (Snagg's) was lying in the hammock chatting to this local American couple, we decided to go in and have a beer. It was very interesting chatting to him and the couple, the couple say he is very well known for his cooking and especially crayfish/lobster, unfortunately he only does it on Sunday's or if in a group, so we will have to get a group together, as it sounds like a treat.

We had to make a trip into the capital, Hillsborough, to book my plane ticket back to Grenada, to catch my plane back to Angola. We caught the bus (looks like a SA taxi), very friendly people, we had a great day in town.

Anchored in paradise, Tyrrel Bay is a beautiful bay with the colours in the water. Once we were anchored, I dived on the anchor to make sure it was in properly, which it was, then swam around the boat and noticed that our Maxprop was damaged, one of the blades had the tip missing...hence the slow progress when motoring, so will have to change that.

So once anchored......our first real Caribbean anchorage, we both dived off for a swim and then it looked like a perfect evening, so decided to light a fire for a braai. It did turn out to be the most perfect evening for a first Caribbean anchorage, full moon....no wind....smooth calm waters...a braai and rum!!!
