As I said before, there were quite a few kids on this boat and they were having fun. They would take the swing and walk right to the end of the bowsprit, (front end of boat) and then jump off.......

We took a trip through the Cays on Pod (dingy) and stopped of on one of the Islands there, for a snorkel. It was fantastic to swim around and watch the Turtles feeding on the grass/weed on the bottom and then surface for air every now and then. Di was fortunate to be watching one of the biggest and most beautiful ones, when he decided to surface for air, it passed Di so closely that she put out a hand and stroked it as it surfaced, and never even panicked, Di was so excited. This is certainly one of the best places in the Caribbean......

We have seen some fantastic scenery in the Grenadines but we have also seen some beautiful sailing vessels, this one had quite a lot of people onboard and lots of kids enjoying themselves, it was quite a treat to sit and watch this vessel..........

21/04/09, Canouan Island to Tobago Cays
We had a very quick sail across from Canouan Island to Tobago Cays, it was so good we were sorry drop the sails, but we were all very happy to be approaching Tobago Cays on Pizzazz.

21/04/09, Charlestown Bay, Canouan Island
So we stayed overnight, we had heard this anchorage was very rolly, but we were lucky, we had a great evening onboard and left for Tobago Cays about 9:30 the next morning. Canouan Island has a Hotel/Casino and golf course, and is a big charter boat port for Mooring Charters, it has changed a lot since the last time we visited here. These were some of our neighbours.....

As we approached Canouan Island, the weather started clearing fortunately, as a mile or 2 back we could not even see the Island.

21/04/09, Bequia to Tobago Cays
The day before we planned on leaving, I started the motor to charge the batteries, as usual every day, and it ran for a few minutes and I noticed it starting to overheat......I switched off and checked around the motor and again no signs of water. That day our friends, John & Shirley arrived and they came over for drinks and John said we are to go to their boat for dinner and he would help me in the morning to sort the motor out. Well in the end it turned out to be a stuck thermostat, which I just removed and the motor has been fine since(touch wood). So the following morning we set out for Tobago Cays. We were hit by a storm with quite strong winds and very little visibility due to rain. We decided to sail to Canouan Island rather and go to the Cays early the next morning.

So time was moving on and we had to think of leaving Bequia, we really enjoyed Bequia and will definitely come back here, probably next time around. We had to stock with some fresh goodies and a last shop, as we were on our way to Tobago Cays, where there are no shops at all. This is the local veg market in main town Port Elizabeth.

21/04/09, Admiralty Bay, Bequia
When entering or exiting Admiralty Bay, we pass a place called Moonhole, these are houses which were built into the landscape in the 1960's sometime, they look as though they have been there for centuries, but this was a brain wave by, I think a Canadian, who originally built the places without any doors or windows,, it has expanded to I think about 19 now and some now do have windows. It is now a very unusual place to go and have a holiday, a totally different experience......the original one was the one shown above, built through the arch in the rock.....

21/04/09, Admiraly Bay, Bequia
After our tour we were dropped off and wondered around the boutique's, market and the famous Basil's Bar & Restaurant, where we were told again, when the celeb's are on the Island, they can often be seen at Basil's Bar.........above is a pic of the Bar. After lunch on the Schooner, we went snorkelling and that was great, and then the sail back to Bequia.

These are the boutiques and surprisingly enough, they were not too expensive, we thought we would only be doing "window" shopping there, but they had some really nice goodies and reasonable prices.

Well here we got a pic of"supposed to be" Bryan Adams's place on the right, the little shiny roof just left of middle of picture, is Mick Jagger's and Jerry Hall's on the left......now whether this is so, we will not know, because according to our taxi driver, Mick Jagger was on the Island........when we got back to the Schooner, they told us that if anybody famous is on the Island, no cameras are allowed, and the place would be swarming with security...so........

This is one of the mansions we got close to, but I cannot remember whose it was, all the people we did know, we could not get close to their properties....

19/04/09, Admiralty Bay, Bequia
We decided to go on a trip to the Island of Mustique, on a local Schooner. A 2 hour sail, with breakfast, Lunch and tea, champagne, all drinks included, and was a great day being spoilt and also seeing such a beautiful Island. This Island is where a lot of celeb's own houses, was interesting to see all the mansions. When any of the celeb's are on the Island, no cameras are allowed, and it is possible that you may be sitting in the famous Basil's Bar, right next to a celeb. We saw, from a distance, homes of Brian Adams, Mick Jagger & Jerry Hall, plus a few others. This is a pic of the Schooner "Friendship Rose".

18/04/09, St Vincent to Bequia
On our way back on our tour, our taxi driver decides to stop, and says he just wants to see a friend, he disappears and comes back with a "local" meal of chicken & chips for us all to share...wow...we were shocked, then he stopped for coconuts for drinks, which I insisted I pay for, as he was prepared to pay for that as well. He eventually dropped us off in town and we spent a bit of time doing some shopping.....lots of people....not used to that. Then decided to go for a beer on the way to the ferry and had a few.......when we were ready to leave, the owner asked where we are going..., so we say to catch the ferry at 04:00pm, he says it is only 3:45 and then buys us a round.......again..wow.....we did get the ferry in the end....this pic shows St Vincent in the distance.

They now they have a restaurant/bar and gift shop located here, they also have some photos of the actors and crew with signatures displayed on a board in the bar. We were going to have lunch here but decided to wait till we got back to town, the menu was not that great. This statue is in the middle of the restaurant..

One of the film sites of the film, Pirates of the Caribbean is this bay, called Wallilabou Bay. We were told that there were many locations around St Vincent used for filming. This is a pic showing the famous arch of rock where the hangings in the movie took place.

When the ferry docked, before we could even get off the ferry, the taxi drivers were in our faces........after telling them a few times we just wanted to see the town first, which was right there........we decided to bargain with one of them to take us on a bit of a tour, and we wanted to go to where the movie, Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed. We paid EC$150 for the 3 of us, for about 3 hours, there and back. Again we were dissappointed, as there was really not much left to see, well not nearly as much as we had expected. Here is a pic of one of the buildings, which they are trying to repair....

18/04/09, Admiralty Bay, Bequia
Then we decided, because of our limited time, we took a ferry across to the Island of St Vincent, which was about an hours trip. This pic is entering the port of Kingstown, St Vincent. We expected more than we saw and were a bit dissappointed with St Vincent.

18/04/09, Admiralty Bay, Bequia
There are more facilities and restaurants in Bequia than any of the other Grenadines Islands, good dingy docks to tie to, a good vegi market for fresh supplies and yacht chandlery as well. There were also many super yachts and ships visiting here which was always great to see, yachts and ships we had only seen in magazines, were now anchoring in the same bay as Pizzazz....great stuff. It is also a beautiful bay with great beaches.

So Pizzazz anchored in Admiralty Bay, the town of Port Elizabeth in Bequia.....

18/04/09, Union Island to Bequia
So after sailing the whole day, with the wind direction coming from exactly from where we wanted to go to, we zig-zagged our way there, we eventually had to try the motor again, as were battling to get into the bay due to the strong current, so I started the motor and she started.....with a close eye on the gauges, we motored for 3 hours, with not a hiccup or any overheating and eventually dropped anchor at about 7:30pm in the dark.

18/04/09, Clifton, Union Island
So time to move on again, after a few days we upped anchor and sailed around east of Union Island and across to the west side of Mayreau Island, with a good breeze and still a bit of motor for battery charging, we closed in on Mayreau. All of a sudden the alarms for the engine went off and had to cut motor immediately, I went down and checked around and saw nothing unusual, just the engine had overheated. So we had to now sail to Bequia and luckily Bequia is a nice open bay to sail into and anchor. We new we would be able to get parts or help in Bequia, rather than anywhere else.
