15/06/09, Bequia Island to Carriacou Island
So after a wonderful relaxing stay in Bequia, it was time to head back to Carriacou Island. We had plans of stopping off at other places but kept delaying another day until we had no more choices, and had to head straight to Carriacou. Again we had a very quick sail back, about 30 miles we covered in 5 hours, this time though Pizzazz was loaded with diesel and water. Here is a shot of the very casual helms person, Pizzazz doing 6-7 knots.....

We actually went to a place in town to have lunch but after looking at their menu, we decided to have a drink and then go to the Gingerbread restaurant for lunch. So this is our pre-lunch drink...

So all good things must come to an end......we decided to book out from Bequia Island and sail straight down to Hillsborough to check into Carriacou again, so we checked out and went for a last lunch at the Gingerbread restaurant.

A pic from the beach area in town, looking towards where all the nice restaurants and bars are located, there is a paved path along the waters edge, all along the restaurants and this is also where the dingy jetties are as well.

So after a heavy days work of loading diesel, swimming, snorkelling and loading of the dingy on deck, we sat back and enjoyed another sunset with a refreshment......

13/06/09, Clifton Harbour, Union Island
After a 2 hour sail to Union Island we set our anchor in Clifton Harbour once more. We checked in that afternoon and decided to stay for another night, so we could load up with diesel the next day. Last time we were here we got a contact for fuel straight off a trawler anchored in the harbour. The bad part about Clifton Harbour is the boat boy's come out when you arrive and offer moorings to tie up to and then try and offer all sorts of services, the one offered to get our diesel at EC$16 and said it is a good price and would not find better, we said we heard another say EC$12, so after a while he brought it to EC$12, I said he must come back at 1:00 as wanted to find out about our other contact, so we eventually got our diesel from our contact for EC$7........

13/06/09, Tyrrel Bay, Carriacou Island
So after 5 wonderful days in Barbados, it was time to get back to Pizzazz and go sailing. We decided to drop the mooring bouy and head for the Grenadines again. So first stop would be Union Island to check into the Grenadines and pick up fuel, as we found a cheap supply of fuel in Union.

12/06/09, Carriacou Island, Grenada
Lunch was included in the tour and Ted took us to one of his favourite places on the windward side, east side, of the Island. We had one free drink and a buffet lunch, which was very nice. Just across from the place we had lunch at, was this beach with these unusual formations of rock.

12/06/09, Carriacou Island, Grenada
One of the day's, we decided to do and Island tour, so we were collected from the hotel by Ted's Tours, and Ted himself was our guide for the day, he was really fun and a good sense of humour, he was a white local, born in Barbados and had a good knowledge of the Island. Everytime we had a stop, he brought out his homemade Rum punch. This pic is one of our stops, the visibility was not great because of the dust, they say, from the Sahara...........

The Hotel had a special going where the price included everything....including the food and drinks!!!! It was also breakfast, lunch, tea and supper....they had entertainment every night which was great, some nights just a DJ, but something on every night, so we had a great time. When we arrived they put a white band on our arms, and what ever we ordered, we just showed the band on our arm and we paid nothing, this even included cocktails!!!! Here is a view from our room, of the Hotel entertainment and pool area.

12/06/09, Carriacou Island, Grenda
So a week after Di left Pizzazz, it was my turn to return, but my return flight took me through Barbados, so we decided to fly Glyn from Carriacou Island, via Grenada to Barbados, to meet me there. We stayed in a Hotel called the Barbados Beach Club, which was wonderful, we had a great room with a great view. A view of the Hotel and a view of the sea. This is a view from the room.

So while I was away WORKING!!!! Glyn and Di, and our friend Brian, decided to take a ferry and visit the 3rd Island of Grenada, Petit Martinique, Glyn said it was a bit dissappointing. This was Di's last real outing, before she had to return home. It was great having Di on board and trust she had a great time, we were both sorry to see her go.

27/04/09, Sandy Island, Carriacou
So we stayed over one night here, and then the next morning we sailed around the corner and back into Tyrrel Bay, our home base at the moment. So after about 3 weeks of wonderful sailing and Island hopping, we picked up our bouy in Tyrrel Bay.

27/04/09, Sandy Island, Carriacou
Sandy Island is a very small Island, basically a bit of growth on a sand spit, about 3-400m long and not more than 20m wide, but has reef around it and a good place for a stopover. This is from the Island looking NNE towards Union Island in the distance.

I am sure you have to pinch yourselves to remind yourselves that this is for real. This is a trip we can only all dream of. Well done for making it come true for yourselves.
Much love to you all Sandy xoxo
Hey Di, we missing you here. Looking forward to seeing you again soon. Your turtle experience must have been amazing.

So it was time for us to leave the Cays and head south again. The morning just as we were preparing to lift anchor, this "yacht" came to anchor......

24/04/09, Tobago Cays
We took a trip through the Cays on Pod (dingy) and stopped of on one of the Islands there, for a snorkel. It was fantastic to swim around and watch the Turtles feeding on the grass/weed on the bottom and then surface for air every now and then. Di was fortunate to be watching one of the biggest and most beautiful ones, when he decided to surface for air, it passed Di so closely that she put out a hand and stroked it as it surfaced, and never even panicked, Di was so excited. This is certainly one of the best places in the Caribbean......

21/04/09, Canouan Island to Tobago Cays
We had a very quick sail across from Canouan Island to Tobago Cays, it was so good we were sorry drop the sails, but we were all very happy to be approaching Tobago Cays on Pizzazz.

21/04/09, Charlestown Bay, Canouan Island
So we stayed overnight, we had heard this anchorage was very rolly, but we were lucky, we had a great evening onboard and left for Tobago Cays about 9:30 the next morning. Canouan Island has a Hotel/Casino and golf course, and is a big charter boat port for Mooring Charters, it has changed a lot since the last time we visited here. These were some of our neighbours.....

21/04/09, Bequia to Tobago Cays
The day before we planned on leaving, I started the motor to charge the batteries, as usual every day, and it ran for a few minutes and I noticed it starting to overheat......I switched off and checked around the motor and again no signs of water. That day our friends, John & Shirley arrived and they came over for drinks and John said we are to go to their boat for dinner and he would help me in the morning to sort the motor out. Well in the end it turned out to be a stuck thermostat, which I just removed and the motor has been fine since(touch wood). So the following morning we set out for Tobago Cays. We were hit by a storm with quite strong winds and very little visibility due to rain. We decided to sail to Canouan Island rather and go to the Cays early the next morning.

21/04/09, Admiralty Bay, Bequia
So time was moving on and we had to think of leaving Bequia, we really enjoyed Bequia and will definitely come back here, probably next time around. We had to stock with some fresh goodies and a last shop, as we were on our way to Tobago Cays, where there are no shops at all. This is the local veg market in main town Port Elizabeth.
