Friday 11th June
Previous eve drinks spent with "The Tagide Book Club" - James and crew next door. Who would have thought that chaps on boating holiday would discuss their books... the Hayling ladies would have been impressed. Paul was struggling with "Never let me Go!"
Left Falmouth at approx 3pm in the sunshine. after couple of hours sea became bit confused (again!) I saw my tea again (lovely!!) First 24 hours waves were 3m but wind force 5 - 6. Made great progress.
Broad reaching all the way. Shooting star and satellite spotting.
Saturday 12th June
Sailed deeper into the Bay. Dodging tankers. Went over the continental shelf in the afternoon and the waves went from 3 to 4m but longer so more comfortable (and in sunshine). Strange to watch the depth go from 200 metres to off the scale....4000 metres deep. More pot noodles and star gazing. Not another boat anywhere. Listened to Great Expectations on the deck speakers... and Go Yak Gok! cool song - Thanks for that Chris and the donkey joke...
Sunday 13th June
Buzzed by two schools of dolphins before 8am - Better than church...(sorry mum!) but AMAZING!!! The sun came out and we had visitations by pods pretty much every other hour.. Common Dolphins!! We could hear them clicking felt like they were saying "Dawn Raider this is Zulu Warrior target practice complete. Home for tea? Wilco"....and they had babies too. . fanbloodytastic! they can swim up to 40 miles an hour they jumped and rode the bow... Prob took too many pics. Could have touched them lying by the stemhead.
In the evening saw another yacht ahead. Overtook them by 9pm. More Great Expectations...."Verily we had wittins"
