10 August 2010 | Aquadulce
Saturday 7th August - Caleta De Velez
Big swell. Motored to Scruffy marina in a fishing port. Not resorty at all (we like that!) Saw a nude man. Went for a walk to beach bar for a sundowner.

Sunday 8th August - Puerto de Adra
Long day (8 hours) motorsail missing out Motril because we found that we needed to book the Alhambra 10 days in advance. Rubbish. Decided to crack on to get away from the Torremolini. Flying Fish. Good calm anchorage in Puerto Adra. Woken in the morning by the pile drivers. Saw the Groggy Italians from Fuengirola leaving.

Monday 9th August
Motored 33 miles in flat calm from Adra to Aquadulce (found out Pleiades has been here before!)
Miles upon miles of greenhouses and more interesting rocky coastline with the snowy Sierra Nevada behind. Uneventful and hot day. Saw flying fish and got wound up by the Times cryptic crossword (I'll give them crosswords!!) Went for a evening swim and beer to cool down. Town cut out of the rocks but very pleasant marina with bars etc but peaceful.

Tuesday 10th August
Up early (well for us! who don't eat our evening meal until 2300) for the cheap air conditioned coach into Almeria.... culture at the Alcazaba, Cathedral etc. 35 degrees today. Tapas and plenty beers for lunch (at 4pm) Introduced Martyn to Churros with his coffee (he is hooked...) Almeria has some amazing buildings in varying states of dilapidation including the Alcazabar which was wonderful (nearly made up for the Alhambra!) Back for crepuscular cards....and a soaking with the hose.
