Sunday 5th June – Monday 6th

Marty’s birthday... Decided to head out back to Sicily but within half an hour of wind on the schnozzle and tide against us we turned back and parked alongside the wall in the port this time (free) and celebrated Martyns birthday with a cake, pressies, and very nice meal recommended by Saveiro (Cosa Nostra...)who came drinking with us. Reggio Calabria is a strange place which was flattened by WW2 bombers as well as earthquakes, so not hugely attractive.
Saveiro left croissants on the deck on Monday morning. Bless. Headed for Sicily again.. Motoring in a leftover swell and watched the snow topped Etna grow closer in the knowledge that the sea is as deep here as she is high... spooky... Anchored off the beach at Giardini behind a sea wall.
