The Daily Dolphin returns
20 April 2012 | 22 Fathom Bay - Fethiye
Our tearful farewell with everyone at Marmaris was followed by a romping sail reaching 9.5 knots at times but with a 2.5 metre swell on the beam. 6 hours door to door or rather marina to wonderful anchorage. Plus a solitary dolphin welcomed us with a bow ride as we turned the corner into Fethiye Bay (and lost the swell)
Anchored in 22 fathom bay. Two eagles soaring overhead as we anchored, an owl hooting all night, plus goat bells and a fantastic canopy of stars...
In the morning supplies of eggs and brownies (chocolate ones!) bought out in a small rib.
This place is so beautiful, peaceful, calm and quiet, with a transparent sea; pine glades a lonely cypress on the secluded beach you can understand why it is so popular (poss too popular in season?)
There are so many anchorages to choose from in this area with islands and islets offering shelter all around. An excellent start to the intrepid (? hopefully not) sailing season of capn Martyn (or should I call him professor after his winter school lessons to a six and ten year old) and his steadfast pleiades crew
