Back in the Water

Helios went back in the water after spending a month at Citadel Marine here in Tacoma. I had the waterline raised, when two full coats of Cukote bottom paint were applied along with an 18" belly band third coat, and prop speed for the saildrives and propellers. The reason for the whole month was all the rain in March, enough to set a new record, not leaving many days to paint. The previous Cukote paint had lasted for 4 years with no hard growth, good bottom paint and cold water. I also had a couple of areas with spider cracks from pulling the hull deck out of the mold flexing, fixed, and 2 new thru hulls put in for raw water cooling to the engines. The reason for the haul out was to repair the starboard rub rail which was cracked last December by a Winter Vashon race participant backing into Helios. The insurance paid for the haul out and replacing the rub rail. I would recommend Citadel Marine to anyone in the area. They have experts for each area a boater might need, and are nice people to work with. Helios is now ready for spring and summer sailing, and is moored back at Breakwater.
