Getting Pokai ready

We've been getting Pokai ready for 10 years. But first Paul had to retire (that was last year). In the meantime Pokai has has most of her electrical wires replaced, her head updated and replaced, her oven/stove replaced, new electronics, a new dinghy, a wind vane installed (Hydrovane). She is due for a haul out and later her standing rigging will be replaced. Perhaps we will head south this fall -- if not then it will be next year when the weather breaks and the gales stop.

Pictures of Pokai and progress reports will follow.

My Art blog is at http://svpokai.wordpress.com -- this is where I ponder the weighty question -- what sort of ART is portable and can be taken along on a 35 foot sailboat.

Pokai is a Heni Wauquiez sailboat -- French or Flemish really. She is a classic plastic built in 82-83. (Started at the end of 82 and completed in 83). Seeker, a 35 foot Wauquiez Pretorien, our boat's sistership came in third in the Vic-Maui International sailboat race. I've told Ken that his win gives Pokai bragging rights!! Seeker was the smallest sailboat to sail in that race last year, and the organizers sort of relented and said -- if you must come out and play with the big boys -- oh alright. Seeker did Heni Wauquiez proud.

We will be taking Pokai touring in the Puget Sound and up to the San Juan Islands -- one last time, our farewell tour this summer.

O.K. -- photos of Pokai will be posted shortly. First I need to shrink the photos for downloading in this century and in the viewer's lifetimes!!
