Capt. Rick
Question: Who can sail; who can bake; who has flour all over his hands and shirt, and who is getting left behind when Polar Mist sails away from Shilshole Bay in Seattle on Tuesday? The answer: Capt. Rick!

I will be seeing John and Karen off for their spin around the San Juan Islands today. It has been an incredible summer—over five thousand offshore miles from Ventura to Honolulu to Sitka and then over 1500 more miles of cruising in Southeast Alaska from Sitka to Glacier Bay and south through the inside passage to Seattle. Although I’m sad to be leaving the boat for the winter, I look forward to helping John from afar with our winter boat projects.

Thank you John and Karen for including me in your big adventure! I am looking forward to next summer’s experiences in Southeast Alaska and expect (no—demand) daily phone calls from the San Juans. Have a great trip!

I’ll be headed for Sitka soon to help Jen finish up with the remodel on our new house and I’m sure the winter will be a fun-filled adventure combining the new house, the extensive remodel, and moving all Jen’s treasures, new and old, up the incredibly steep soon to be muddy/rainy/icy driveway. That doesn’t even count the fun associated with cleaning up and selling the Condo Nasty! If anybody is interested in 742 square feet of luxurious waterfront living in Sitka, let me know!
