We motored the 11 miles from Tarpaulin Cove to Cuttyhunk Pond in calm waters and no wind. If I had any magic powers, I will make a point to always have 15 knots of wind with no standard deviation whatsoever. This business of going from gusts of 30 knots to less than 5 knots is not for the faint hearted or for the scientifically oriented for that matter. Naturally, my wind will never be on the nose or dead downwind although I could live with a bit more variation there.

We sighted a group of cows sun bathing on the beach of Nashawena Island. It was a funny sight. Yes, I am talking about real cows.

Even after Labor Day Weekend there were 20 to 30 boats in Cuttyhunk Pond. I took some time off from my three men and went for a solitary walk around the island. I was a slightly less cranky person after that.
