Tuesday, June 21 Ok let's talk. We had a nice night last night, and slept like rocks. This morning was cold, so we tried to start our Refleks Diesel cabin heater. Of course, after not being used or needed in the South Pacific for six years, the poor thing might have a few little pains before it all went smoothly. That was true, but by mid morning, I had it sorted, and we were cozy and comfortable. Boy, were we lucky yesterday. We arrived in no wind, with the sun shining, and a blue sky. This morning, it was blowing into the 20s, and raining, much colder. Completely different from our arrival. Lucky us.

Foremost on my mind is to thank everyone for sending us the nice wishes while we were on passage, and we swear, we could feel you pushing for us and cheering us when we needed it. Thank you for that, and for being here, on board, with us on the passage. Speaking of special, right after we tied up, I called our friend Bob Hanelt in Oakland, Ca, (on the satellite phone) who has been our weather router for since we first started cruising back in 2009. I let him know that we made it in, and that all was well. There were lots of emotions expressed on both sides because this was no ordinary 1000 mile passage. (Funny to call a 1000 mile passage ordinary, but we had gotten pretty routine at it. North to Marshalls in September, South to Fiji in March or April.) But this passage was huge, and a landmark. It really was something special, and he experienced all of the ups and downs as much as we did. We were his ship. He was our weather man. It is a special relationship. So now, imagine, we got to the sushi restaurant last night, and we were met by the bar tender of the bar next door. "Are you Rod and Elisabeth of the yacht Proximity?" Yes we are! What's up? "Your friend Bob called the sushi restaurant, and ordered a bottle of their finest for you." "Naomi, the sushi owner couldn't quit understand what was happening, and she asked for me to translate." "Bob wants to buy you a bottle of the best." So, we has a bottle really wonderful sake with our sushi. Thank you Bob. What we can offer back, at least at this point, is our thanks for the great forecasts, of course, and for always being the for us on this passage. Bob, felt it so important, that not one day, did he take a break from putting together forecast for us - what he affectionately calls a "Prox-Cast. For 36 days, he hung in there and didn't miss a day. Incredible. And now this special bottle of sake. Bob, may we hereby pronounce you to be an "Honorable Rock and Roll Argonaut". You have felt and experienced every rock and roll along with us along every passage we have made. You are indeed, a treasured crew member, and it would have been a much more lonely trip with out you along.

As for all of you who wrote to us, or left a post on the blog. It is very much the same. You are all treasured, and I hope that maybe we can meet all of you that we haven't met, and that we see again, our friends that we have already spent time with.

The Aleutians and Dutch harbor are beautiful. There are countless bald eagles flying over head here. They are loved, but considered quite ordinary. There are whales a-plenty too. While making our way in from egg island to Dutch, we spotted, and we often close to many whales. Even in the last stretch from Priest Rock to Dutch Harbor, we saw whales along the way. Today, we walked to the Ship's Supply, and saw a Marmot, so there is an amazing amount of life here. The islands remind me of Fiji, in that as you approach, you can see these tall islands all down the horizon, like the Yasawas in Fiji. But these are higher, and more imposing, like the yasawas on steroids. Breathtaking. This is the town where the show Deadliest catch is filmed. We have never see the show, but we know about it from the televisions in the bar at the Tide Table Restaurant in Majuro. Who would have thought? Best to you , all of our friends. I think I'll go put new strings n my guitar. I opened the case, and they are all very rusty by now. She is a Gibson SG electric, so I hope everything else is intact. Otherwise, I'll be playing guitar tech before I play any music! Be Excellent to Each Other! Rod and Elisabeth,
