April 24, Day 2, April 25 Day 3

Day two. Our day started out with the wind from the south, and about 2 pm, it quit altogether. So then, we fired up the engine and motored throughout the day, and then on through the night. We were both wishing for some wind as we do not carry much fuel, and we want to keep it in reserve for harbor approaches, etc. All in all though, the day was pleasant, and the night was mostly nice, but we did go through many rain squalls. Now, normally a rain squall brings not only rain, but wind as well. Not last night.

At about 7:00 this morning, Day 3, we got wind. Hoo Haa, did we get wind. We are in it now. The forecast calls for 15 to 18 knots, but this morning we have seen 34 true. At this moment, it is 28 knots. This is all, no doubt, because of the rain squalls about. We are crossing the notorious Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), and until we reach it's end at about the equator or a bit below it, we are expecting to see lots of rain, wind etc.

Meanwhile, life on board Proximity is fine. The seas are getting lumpy, but not too awful, so we can nap, read and visit, laugh, etc. We are keeping a radio visit with a friend in Majuro, so we have some social contact outside the boat. This friend would be Mike from the yacht "Astarte". He is in Majuro, and he is planning to make this passage soon, so naturally, he is most curious about how our time goes. It is going fine, and your Rock and Roll Argonauts are both feeling right at home. In the words of our beloved Pink Floyd, "wish you were here"!
