Thursday is the day of the THURSAR (Giants) and it also Thor's Day - the day of the god Thor.
Some Swedish 'Elk Brew' has been delivered to the computer. It is supposed to act as THE MEAD OF POETRY and divinely inspire me to write something about the day.
Well... what can I say??!
This morning we all woke up in Vaxholm and found a lady duck sitting in one of the cubby holes in our cockpit. She fitted in nicely and clearly thought she had found the perfect nesting location. When five humans showed up for communal breakfast in the cockpit, she changed her mind about the top location for laying eggs...
This reminds me that Elliott's penguin, Bucka, is currently also sitting on two eggs and counting the hours until they hatch. Watch this space!
We did a food shop in the Konsum with all five of us carrying essentials (like SAFFRAN LIMPA) home. Ulric and I then returned to town to visit the SYSTEM BOLAGET. (Government licensed alcohol shop!) We are not going to survive cruising in 'the lower arctic' without plenty of alcohol. We also found that Farmor had got through the night in hospital, after her foot operation yesterday.
Then we cast off and headed for MOEJA - Peter and Eva's suggestion.
We hit some pretty rough seas. I was doing some serious reading and studying in my cabin (FORNSKANDINAVISK RELIGION) and suddenly found myself in a tumble dryer, kind of glued to the ceiling with all my earthly possessions flying and crashing around me. Dad got told off.
Once we got to the island of MOJA things calmed down, thankfully. Dad and Brendan did an expedition ashore, making note of the church services over Easter.
Elliott hopes that Bucka's penguin chicks will hatch on Dad's birthday. Easter would be an alternative DUE DATE...
DINNER IS BEING SERVED ...
INSIDE!!!!!!!!!!
...as an unheard of special treat. Normally we eat in the cockpit and admire passing icebergs.... And talk to ducks....
