We have just seen some six or so dolphins in Lyme Bay. I am sitting at the navigation table. Food smells are starting to fill the air. Hans is doing his galley magics. However at lunch today, we had the take away meny: I cooked!
Fog has descended on us. It came quickly as always. We have switched on the foghorn and radar. One target some 2.5 Nm on port bow can be seen on radar but has no AIS. The sun is starting to burn through the fog.
The wind piped up to 22 knots this afternoon so we furled the genoa a bit. The sea is also getting somewhat choppy. Both Hans and I had a light head ache. We think it is from constantly need to brace ourselves for the heeling of the boat and chop. Maybe also not drinking too much water.
The generator suddenly stopped with both warning of high temperature and low oil pressure. We heeled quite a lot so maybe that was what it didn't like. We will need to investigate when it cooled down and the heeling is less.
The weather doesw more our less as forecasted. However, the winds have been a bit stronger. We are heading towards Teighmouth in Devon now which is some 25 Nm distant. At some point when the wind has backed fully on the West, we will need to tack South.
The fog came back in full force. Visibility is down to a quarter of a mile. We had a fishing vessel passing on that distance, so we know pretty exactly. Wind is back up at 20 knots, we would rather have calmer conditions for dinner.
