The alarmclock was set for 3.30 am. A Mini cab arrived at 4.15 am. Quinn and Elliott did not get up at this unearthly hour to wave us off. The Ryan Air flight was delayed by 1 hour out of London Stansted but uneventful once it did take off. Four hours and 15 minutes later we landed in Las Palmas. Not to be confused with La Palma in Mallorca, where we were this Summer.
Temperatures have been unseasonably high, even in London. People were decorating their Christmas trees in Tee shirts this year. We decorated our tiny one with the French doors to the garden wide open for fresh air. So the temperature change wasn't too much of a shock.
Ulric and Brendan did a food shop while I caught up on sleep and released all notions of overwork and book editing from my body. A delicious crash!!
For dinner Ulric tried to cook frozen calamari. However, there is some problem with the valve for the gas supply. So the calamari went in the microwave instead and dinner was half frozen calamari with airport salad. It was not the most delicious meal ever served aboard this ship....
