We had repair-men on board for most of today. Ulric has worked out a way of communicating with them: typing things in on Google Translate on the i-pad!
We did an afternoon outing to the North Coast: Galdar. There is a very good museum here (with more members of staff than visitors....) It was good to finally learn something about the indigenous peoples of Gran Canaria. Sadly it is the same story as all over the world: pushed out by European invaders and modern technology.
I was most intrigued by the way the cave paintings in the Cueva Pintada seem to portray a way of telling time and keeping a solar and lunar calendar by observing the stars. But that is where the film ended - just as things got very exciting. I will need to do some research when I get home...
The North Coast seems to have magnificent waves and a sizeable surf boarding population. I would have liked to stop and observe the waves but we need to rushb back to the boat for one of Ulric's meetings with a mechanic.
The good news is that we have gas again (we ate only cold food for 3 days!) and we can cook. Brendan has accused me of being overly protective: "Time to give me more responsibilities Mum!" So I try to do that....
When Brendan was 3 years old his unique style signifier was wearing his shoes on the wrong feet. He is still doing that today. Mum looks the other way.....
Ulric is cooking tacos and saying we had better call Quinn and Elliott again. Dinner time in the cockpit!!
