The Protected Bay of Porto Santo

The peace and tranquility of Porto Santo

We were ready to leave around 5pm. We then immediately anchored in the very protected bay just outside Porto Santo’s harbour. It has a long beautiful sandy beach and very few people. Hans stepped into the water which seemed very cold, despite being 20 degrees, because the sun had made us that warm. We unblocked a heads (toilet!) from the water and tried to get rid of some of the growth on Queenie, but realised that would be a huge job. More akin for somebody with proper diving gear, like Sven had done in Saint Martin in 2010.

At 7pm, we set sail (read motored) around the corner off the island on a Northerly course to hopefully pick up some wind....
