All good things come to an end. The very consistent east wind we have become so used to the last 6-month was today left behind, and we are now officially in the horse latitudes. With light north wind, for now.
This passage is to long to be considered a 'short trip' where you stay out 3-4 night and is half-way there the second day out. Those short trips does not really require you mentally to get into the 'passage making' mode. On the other hand is this trip to short, just 1050nm, to be considered a long passage, where you after 4-5 days are happy with exactly where you are at. If you can not get in that mental state, I think you would go crazy on a 20-30 passage. No, this passage is something in between and we are stuck. Unable to get to New Zealand in a few days, and unable to get into the passage making mode. Instead we constantly stare at the GPS while the miles slowly, 1nm every 10-15min, ticks down.
Did you know we are 1/3 the way there?
