January 29th - Got to La Belle from Moore Haven at 1.10 p.m. 21.88 n.m. 5 hours and two locks.

It is a free dock, right beside La Belle bridge, fortunately it is a new bridge and noise is still a factor but not as bad as when we did this in 2003.
You are allowed 3 days, with water and electricity.

Med moor was successful, did not hit anyone. Probably because we had lots of room. Just kidding.

Immediately went into town to buy the famous La Belle honey. Bought 2 96 oz jugs, 1 mangrove and the other orange blossom. $16.00 each. what a deal.

January 30th, Alain checked the pillow block, stuffing box and decided he had to re-align.

Spent all afternoon down there in the bilge and still managed to cook a wonderful supper. Shrimps in Miso style chinese soup with all the vegetables. mmmmm. I made a trifle because the cakes I made the day before were too sweet... Trifle turned out great.

January 31st, Alain finished aligning the shaft by about 1.00 p.m. and now is back to general door maintenance. What a busy life.

I finished transferring charts from one computer to another and made new boat cards...

We then went to the Kiwanis thrift store, they had a sale on.... 75 % off.

The prices originally were $2.00 per piece, sAlain, 1 pair of nearly new jeans and 4 teashirts and shirts for judi. Lovely.
Fort Myers, one lock left on the waterway and only about 30 n.m.
You can anchor, pick up a mooring ball or go to the Marina. Friendly people.
All for now.

Supper tonight is pizza in a spanish pizza dough.

We had a great day, left Indiantown, anchorage!!! at 10.20 because we could not lift our second anchor, it is far too big a danforth when it is tangled!!
Anyway, once we had untangled it was and OK . We do not like two anchors, they always seem to tangle. Ours did because we threw it in the wrong side of the......
The railway bridge of 49 ft was closed, altho it is usually open. had to wait an hour while some sort of repair being done. No cummunication as the railway people take care of it.

Then we got going thinking the Mayaca lock was every two hours, now know it is on demand or request and you can choose which side to hang on to. Thank goodness for that or we would have been in trouble.

a lift or drop of 1 foot. No problem.

Crossing the lake was good, the first hour was lumpy but fine... then calmed. Lake was never less than 11 until approaching mile 55, and then the least was 9.5" Red 14 was 8.2" red 18 7.9". Going thru the last did not see anything less than 7.2"for mere seconds.

So all is well with us.

We got to Moorhaven anchorage at 5.00. Did the one anchor and put lots of lights up. It seems that it was only 42 n.m./ but took longer because of 1 1/2 hours wait for the rr brdge, no train, just workman.. and of course the locks, 2 today. It is a fine day and I hope you all had a fine day too.

Alain is now playing guitar, I am having a drink and writing after planning next day, Labelle, only 21 nautical miles.

p.s. the wild birds are amazing and bountiful.
