Been a while

24 October 2008
Its has been a while since I had sailed and obviously since an entry. I had a lousy sail a few weekends ago and haven't made it back to the Sailing Center and missed last Thursday's race because I had to go out of town for work.

I got to sail last night with the crew from Davis Island for what is the last serious race of the season. The race was long and dark. Add to that, the winds were strong and the bay was choppy. We sailed with the main reefed almost the whole race. I spent half the time in the mostly dry cockpit either grinding the winch on jib sheet or just hanging out. Half way through the race, I needed to help on the foredeck. It was bouncy, wet and chilly once all your cloths were soaked. I found out the next week's race is the fun race and is more social and just for fun.

I'm kind of glad the Thursday season is over. I am not caring very much for the night racing and by last nights experience, if you are wet, it can get pretty chilly.

I plan on getting back out to the Sailing Center to redeem myself and have a good sail.
