OK, let me make this clear; Rancho Deluxe won our division or said another way, we were 1st in class and 8th in the overall fleet!

I will get some pictures up asap, but right now it's fun to play on the beach and get 10 hours of sleep per night.

I would like to thank all of you who posted comments and or sent e-mails. It has really kept this thing alive for the crew.

Many cheers !!! Ben and I just returned to Sacto--discovered the internet cafes in London--they couldn't understand why we were cheering for a BOAT! instead of the big darts play off!!! We didn"t try to explain! Love to all!!! Mom

Congratulations! I work with Greg Bowker and race on a Tartan 30 out of Alameda. Wonderful having a crew to cheer for. What I can't figure out is how you type so well with the swells... You guys _are_ good.

of course that's Greg Baker. I can't even type on solid ground...
Happy Endings!

07/24/2007, Honolulu!!!

We had a great day racing yesterday!

We sailed all day then entered the Molokai Chanel at 11:00pm for a wild ride to the Diamond Head finish. Radio contact is made at 100 miles, 25 miles and 3 miles to go. We listened all night to hear about Tower but they had not reported in yet so we were optimistic.

Had a fun ride through the channel and then made the turn to the finish line, some of the more exciting sailing of the trip as we had 3 gybes with winds in excess of 25 knots.

We fininshed around 3:30 am and were met at the dock by Betty, Laura, JJ, Max, Ava, Eileen and Louise Diepenbrock...the last 2 being a complete surprise!

Once we cleared the technical and safety inspections we were given lei's and mai tais, kisses and more mai tais!

Oh yeah, we won our class.

More later,
Jim

CONGRATULATIONS! Minnesota is a long way from Honolulu, but we have been following your adventure daily and the thrill of the race. After joining Jim Leonard on the Swiftsure race and a Perra family trip on Lake Superior last week we share your at sea excitement. To finish would have been an accomplishment, to win, AWESOME!
