Get a good job?

Well let's just say I was a kid in 1980. I remember sitting in the bathroom with dad as I did many of times when he came home from work. This time it was while he was shaving. He told me this life lesson to do well in school and get a good job so I could buy him a sailboat. Well the school thing, not so good. The good job, yes I am very fortunate to have that. The echo of my Dad saying get a good job and buy him a sailboat, that never left me either. I have always had a love for the water, as I live on Lake Erie, However I am very partial to the Ocean, as I have spent and continue to spend time in the Carolinas and Florida. Boating and fishing have always been a great past time, never owning a boat it was always a treat to be able to get out on a charter or cruise on a friends boat.
Moving forward to present day, it really was evident that I had a passion to explore sailing. Once I realized this was more then a dream, I had an itch to get a boat. My neighbor who had just turned 41 years old passed away unexpectedly. That was my decision maker, we bought a boat.
After looking at several different boats from trailer sailors to even a catamaran, I signed the deal on a 1984 Star wind 27. It was turn key and in impeccable shape. So now not knowing what tomorrow brings, we have a boat to share with my lovely family and of course my parents who I am very fortunate to still have here with me.
This is a learning process for me and I plan on sharing this adventure every step of the way for all who are interested in going with me from no boat to sailboat.
