Gidday All,
We hope you all had a great new years eve and that 2011 has started well for you. We spent new years having a nice dinner with the Perfect Wave gang and some other friends before heading to Philo`s Bar (a well know cruiser hang out) where there is always live music and cold beers. There was dancing, singing, a few laughs and plenty of Margarita's and Cervezas consumed. Just after midnight we returned to the marina where Leanne and Dawn in the company of Matthew and Eric` son and girlfriend proceeded to down several Tequila shots which ended as you would expect, large hang-overs. Whilst this was going on Eric and I got into some mischief, we decided that we should adjust the mooring lines on a friend's boat so that when he woke up in the morning he would find himself in the middle of his berth rather than tied up along side which would make getting off a bit difficult. With a little help from a couple of passer-by's we managed to execute our prank without waking our friends who were asleep on their boat and of course without doing any damage. Unfortunately our friends were not amused by our stunt and we were quite ferociously abused by them, oh well every-one else that we have met since that heard about it , and there have been quite a few ,tell us that they thought it was very funny!
A quite new year's day was spent recovering and then on the 2nd we left La Cruz in the boats and headed about 6nm south to Paradise Village Marina. Talk about a different world!
Paradise Village is like being back on the Gold Coast (the beach, water and surf are nowhere near as good). The Marina setting is similar to Sanctuary Cove with a Versace influence and the Hotel and shopping centre are like Marina Mirage. The pool area is a mini Wet n Wild complete with crocodile water slides and underwater caves all of which we as marina occupants are welcome to use. In the grounds there is also a mini Zoo complete with Tigers .
The last few days have been spent sitting around the pool, participating in the pool side activities, and sipping cocktails, pretty cool and all for about $45.00 per day. (See photo gallery for pictures of Paradise Village area)
We will stay here until Monday and then we are hopefully going to find a surf break that we can anchor near to and spend the week surfing. The weather is great, sky is blue, mornings and evenings are cool, the rest of the day is hot, about 28-30 pretty good considering it is winter here!
Catch you all later
