Banana Bread!
We wake and shortly Walter brings our breakfast by, and yummy loaf of Banana bread – different than yesterdays, and very tasty. We enjoy the peaceful, bright (and NOT rainy) start of the day. I enjoy a last snorkel, where I see more turtles, and a ray swimming, and then its time to say goodbye to this beautiful place.
We move the 7 miles over to Union Island and drop anchor in the closest spot we have EVER anchored…maybe we are getting a little cocky! Since the bottom here is all sand and grass with very little coral, we go way up toward the reef, until Jim says the depth reads 5 feet! And away the anchor goes! It catches right away, and so shortly we are at rest. Umm – how deep is the anchor? Off I go to snorkel it to discover that I can STAND on it…hmm…it that TOO shallow? After swimming around a bit, and pulling the anchor back about 4 feet, then checking the depths all around we determine that not only are we holding well, but we will be able to get out in the morning - without running aground at low tide!
After heading to shore, doing the customs thing, and buying bread….AND finding a new little shop that sells THE BEST iced Coffee ever – for 5 EC (or about $1.90US) it was back to the boat. A beautiful night, again with the moonlight shining on the pale, clear water and showing the beach at Palm island like a strip of white against the dark backdrop of palm trees…really beautiful.
