Staying Put...

Everyone is staying put the past week due to high winds...in the 20 to 30mph range..with seas in teh 5 to 8ft. range. Usually there is a fairly steady stream of boats coming and going from Boot Key Harbor this time of year.
But, for the past week there is little if any activity due to the high winds and seas. A few boats have taken shelter here, but have come to find out the mooring field is full. The mooring field holds hundreds of boats. Its huge. And its full. So boats either have to grab one of the very few (if any) slips available or find a nearby anchorage.
I'm waiting for the seas to lay down a bit before my next outting. It won't be as big as the one I just came back from, just an overnighter at Indian Key...or New Found Harbor.
Due to boredom, I decided to find my way up the abandoned draw bridge in the harbor to try and get a picture of what Boot Key Harbor looks like. Because the bridge now has a huge section missing so sailboats can travel under it, its chained off preventing me from getting the best picture I could.
But I got a couple that will give you an idea of what Boot Key Harbor looks like....along with a few distant shots of Burdines Marina where I'm staying.
