We left Powell River around 9:30 this morning under cloudy skies but mild temperatures. We motored up to near Cortes Island and fished for about an hour with the new downrigger... no luck but good learning experience on how to use it.
We moored around 3 pm and found one other boat already here. We arrived at low tide, so we gathered our buckets, gloves, oyster knife, and clam rakes and headed to the beach. We shucked 1 1/2 liters of oysters (our limit) and gathered our limit of Manila clams (225). We had about 100 of them for dinner steamed with butter, olive oil, white wine, garlic and lemon juice! Most excellent! The oysters are chilling in the cooler and we will eat some of them tomorrow. Low tide tomorrow is around 5:30 pm, so we have all day to putz around the boat, before heading back to the beach. Thanks for your comments, we love hearing from you! We're here till Saturday morning.
