Baby Bear Cove to Appleton Cove
06 July 2011
We left Baby Bear Bay at low tide heading to Appleton Cove, a short trip due to winds forecast for the day. We made good time until we entered upper peril strait. We then face headwinds and current. after a slug up peril strait, we finally arrrived in Appleton Cove. We decided to anchor in the north nook to reduce fetch. We set the anchor and had lunch. after lunch we discovered we had drug anchor about 100 yards. We got underway and moved the boat to the preferred anchorage at the west end of the cove. We put all the chain out and reset the anchor. We experienced 20kts winds in the cove throughout the afternoon and evening. We plan to leave around 3pm tomorrow to catch a favorable current in Hoonah Sound and Chatham Strait on our way to Warm Spring Cove.
