Shearwater to Dawsons Landing
07/22/2011
We left Shearwater on the 21st to head down to Namu, a place we stayed on the way up. We moored and set out our crab pots. We went up and watch Pete operate his sawmill. We had joint appetizers on the dock with the other boaters that were visiting. When we got up this morning (22 July) we had 7 crabs between us. So we will have a crab dinner tonight while tied up to the dock at Dawson's Landing. We will make out way down to Duncanby Lodge and marina tomorrow and hopefully pass Cape Caution on Sunday when winds are expected to abate. We saw porpoises and whales between here and Namu, and the sun even came out! Getting closer to home each day!
Prince Rupert to Shearwater
07/20/2011
We left Prince Rupert and motored to Lowe Inlet where we anchored for the night in front of the waterfall...it was beautiful when we arrived. We were met in Greenville Channel by one of the Celebrity Cruise ships. We got up the next morning to overcast and drizzle. We motor sailed to Butedale where we tied up for the night. We delivered the 50 ft water hose we bought in Petersburg for Lou to use on the dock. We met two canoers who are canoeing from Tacoma to Wrangell where Collin (one of the canoers) lives. He is traveling with his friend Tye. We invited them for dinner where we had shrimp etouffee. We then sat by a fire that Lou built and listened to his stories. We left the next morning and headed to Bottleneck Inlet. We were the first to arrived, but by the end of the day there were 10 boats anchored there including us. We had a steak dinner with garlice mashed potatoes and lettuce and tomato salad.
Arrived Back in British Columbia
07/14/2011
After two beautiful days in Ketchikan we left for Foggy Bay where we anchored for the evening. We decided on a very early departure (4:30am) to get a head start across Dixon Entrance to Prince Rupert. It was a little messy leaving with a good chop and westerly swell, but it finally relented after we crossed into Canadian waters and got behind Dundus Island. We arrived in Prince Rupert around 3pm and moored at the Prince Rupert Rowing and Yacht Club where we stayed the last time we were here. We had dinner at the Breakers. We will be here unti Saturday morning. It was overcast and damp when we arrived as I write this it is raining. Norwegian Cruise Line arrived about an hour after we did so there are a lot of people in town. Next is Lowes Inlet and then Butedale.
