Beautiful pictures, Richard. Were you in Montreal for long? How's Issuma faring? It looks like it has been a fairly easy passage so far, yes?

Thanks, Amos. We sat out some weather just upstream of Montreal for a couple of days, then went right thru. I'm quite behind on the blog at present. Issuma is doing well.

question .... what is the cost ... to take your boat thru the locks? by the foot or flat price
Mon Jun 27 20:17:20 EDT 2011 | Richard Hudson
It costs $25 (either US or Canadian dollars) per lock to take a recreational boat thru.
Protection Gate
Richard
Wed Jun 15 0:00:00 EDT 2011, St Lawrence Seaway, Quebec

The protection gate is put down in front of the far lock door when vessels enter the lock. It is there to stop a vessel from accidentally going too far and damaging the lock doors. While Issuma is way too small to damage those lock doors, the procedure is followed for all vessels entering the lock.
