I think lawns look better when boats are being built on them.

Hi Maggie!!!

They are mostly poor and happy :)

If you like fruit and fish, there is not a big requirement to have money here.
Schooner Dalia

Mon Aug 17 0:00:00 EDT 2009, Ilha Grande, RJ, Brazil

The beautiful 18m (56 foot) schooner Dalia was built in Brazil, as a replica of a Gloucester Fishing schooner. The hull is a very hard and rot-restant Brazilian wood called ipê, the deck, house and spars are a lighter Brazilian wood called freijó.

We had a pleasant visit with Dalia's friendly owner/builders George and Silvana, at their house, which Dalia is moored in front of.

This is how most stuff is moved around on Abraao, by hauling carts. The T-shirt this man is wearing identifies him as a legal cart-person.

Very few motor vehicles are allowed on Abraao...mostly police vehicles and this one dump truck.

The Deepwater Millenium is a deep-water drilling ship that is anchored and (presumably) drilling in shallow water near Ilha Grande.

Drillship and Schooner

Wed Aug 12 1:00:00 EDT 2009, Ilha Grande, RJ, Brazil

The drillship seems to be supplied by both a tug & barge, and a white gaff-rigged schooner (harder to see, to the left of the tug and barge).
