Samos

13 September 2017 | Samos
Michael
While waiting for our new crew, Fisun and Erdogan, to arrive in Samos via ferry from Turkey we had a look around the town of Pythagorion, home of Pythagoras. The town is anything but right angle. We walked out of town to the site where the Romans hand chiseled an aqua duct 1.4 kilometers long from a spring in the middle of the island. Now known as the Efpalinus tunnel. The impressive part is that in 550 BC two teams started on each side and after ten years they only missed by less than one metre. Before Pythagoras was even born.
