Repairs have now been completed with the installation of the rudder by Dave and his team, who was rather worried that everything might not of lined up correctly when re installing the rudder, but it all fitted perfectly.PJ is sporting new antifouling completed by the boys at Mandurah boat lifting.(awesome job) PJ has now been re-floated and I have sailed it back to Port Bouvard. On the way back we had a 4.5 metre swell and 8 knots of wind so it was good conditions to sea trial the new rudder. All went as expected. Thanks to all for the very professinoal job and all the great advice from all the guys at Mandurah boat lifting. A job very well done considering the way the rudder was previously installed. The new windows also look great and it makes a change to be able to actually see out of the cabin clearly as well as the dodger. Thanks also go to my awesome girlfriend Deb, who helped out heaps with her painting skills and the loan of her Ute and ladder and various other tools that she is handy with. :-)

Dry docked PJ since Monday 16th July and have been working hard on the repairs. Patched all the paint work and sanded back the finish. Have applied the tie coat primer. Starting to look good. I have also replaced the dodger windows and saloon windows. After the windows have set I will caulk them. Rudder repairs, and antifouling will be started this week as well as a full engine service. Debbie and I applied the first coat of paint over the primer on the hull today. She did a brilliant job on the port side, and some how she got paint on her nose, which isn't easy to come off..lol I have added more photos in the Storm album.

06/14/2012, Port Bouvard
On Sunday the 10th of June, storms hit perth, including Port Bouvard. 'A' jetty was blown from its mooring and dragged 38 boats to the far end of the marina. As the boats were swept away, they collided with the end boats on "B" jetty bending the jetty like a banana. This caused the boat next to mine to break its rear mooring and it swung around and jammed under my boats stern damaging the rudder and jamming it beyond its travel, hard to port. My front jib also blew out and ripped in half and the window in the front blew out as well. A lot of people live on these boats so it was lucky no one was hurt. 'A' jetty and its boats piled up on the eastern side of the marina on the rocks causing one boat to sink. Fortunately for me, "B" jetty held together for the rest of the storm. As I was working away at the time I'd like to thank all the people who helped save mine and other peoples boats and help to relocate them to other pens and jettys. Thanks also to marina management on being helpful with infomation etc and to Mandurah Sea Rescue. Once again thanks to all who helped. I now have to have my boat towed to Mandurah and lifted to assess the damage. In the photo you can see my jib starting to blow out and the boat next to mine (sixth from left) is jammed under my stern. Check out the album titled 'STORM' in the gallery.

Went for a day sail with my family, Deb, Bec, Angus, James and Skye. Awesome sunny day. The crew enjoyed themselves acting as counter weights, although James tried to splash every one while leaning through the rails, much to Angus' disgust .lol

Sailed PJ to mandurah for antifouling. Had a quick motor sail from Port Bouvard reaching around 5.5 Knots. The trip took around 2.5 hours .Took 4 days(and some money) to paint her up, and over all she's in good condition. Sailed her back to Port Bouvard into a 14 knot head wind which took around 4 hrs clocking a nice 7 knots, even into a 2 metre swell. There where some other yachts around and one in particular was heading to the same port under reduced sail, for what reason i'm still not sure. This yacht followed us in and as we were entering our berth we heard an horrible metallic scraping noise from behind us. Seems the Yacht that had followed us in had hit a metal , "Keep Right" sign in the marina, twisting the pole to one side. Ouch, very embarressing I should imagine, especially in front of the entire marina. They docked at the Bouvard Restaurant. Not sure of the damage to their boat, but could of been an expensive meal lol
