Sketch Tuesday- Something Salty
Skarlath
01/26/2009

Yup that's right I actually did a sketch Tuesday! For something Salty I knew just what to draw. A Mangrove! In particular the Red Mangrove which produces salt itself. I think anyway ( I'll have to go check that out just to make sure). I decided to portray the waterline not as a line but through refraction. So if you look at the roots you may be able to see it I don't know if it shows up vary good though. I tried a new technique with the canopy (One of my least favorite things to draw) and I think it turned out quite well. I think I will have to practice it more and try different tree leaves to see the differences between them. As you can also see the roots have a lot of snails on them as well as a crab right in the middle. That is one of the things I remember most about the mangroves is all the crabs! You walk on the roots and it's showering crabs! Well I have to go off to a Chinese restaurant to celebrate the Chinese New Year! ( Sense I'm not good at closing lines I'll save myself the strain and just end it simply hows that?) Happy Year of the Ox!!!

Well that worked great... New Years resolution #1 down the drain. It was to put up more posts but as you can see that worked well. I'm not one for making resolutions. Never really have "made" one. But (time for the excuses) after Christmas I was so busy trying to put my room back together. (still am *looks at room* @.@) For New Years I went to my friends house whom I never get to see since they are a hundred miles away !.! (Yes that is a crying face. If you squint really hard it kinda does look like it's crying. Maybe...) We stayed up waaaaay too late New Years Eve. Can you guess how late we stayed up? And no guessing from you two since you were the ones I stayed up with so you obviously know. (at least I hope you still remember. *looks at two friends 100 miles away* o.o) Anyway after that I came home and yesterday I started school back up. We are cranking away catching up one a whole month that someone should have been schooling but didn't. Heh heh heh... So we are working mostly on history doing about a weeks worth topic wise in a day. Which is a lot of papers to read but I seem to be doing well lets just hope I can keep it up! And speeking of school *looks at clock* I have to go and do some! No use sitting here typing about it all day then not doing it! Wouldn't really work.

What gift giver are you?
Skarlath
12/17/2008

Inspired by Chitter Chatter's post of what kind of gift giver you are I decided to try it. There was this one question I couldn't decided on. So I did it all the same except that one and these are to two answers I got. Which one do you think fits me the best or neither of them!

You Are a Practical Gift Giver

Your gifts are useful, appropriate, and custom tailored to each person.

In your opinion, the best gifts are gifts that someone will actually use.

Your gifts may not be the most glamourous, but they are always appreciated.

What Kind of Gift Giver Are You?

You Are a Funny Gift Giver

Your gifts are wacky and offbeat.

You prefer to give a gift that makes someone crack up...

Forget utility. You prefer to give something that's totally hilarious.

What Kind of Gift Giver Are You?

So... What do you think?

My Costume!
Skarlath
11/05/2008

Ok so I promised that I'd put up my costume a couple days ago. Sorry bout that. But I'm sure it's no surprise to you now. Ok so the first picture was My bracelet. Pretty cool huh? I thought so too.

And a close up. There are some irritations of having a Mom as a photographer.

And the whole outfit! Now to answer what you have all been thinking.

"Is she an Ice Cube?"
No I am no an Ice Cube. Nor an Icicle. I was St. (Remember my last post?) St. Lydwina of Schiedam!

Her father was a poor noble, and her mother a poor commoner. Lydwina early evinced a devotion to Our Lady of Schiedam. Injured in an ice-skating accident at age 16, the broken rib caused gangrene to set in, she became paralyzed and suffered for decades. She prayed, meditated, and offered her pain to God. (From Patron St. Index)

So what do you think? Pretty cool right? I thought so. But now I must depart in all my glory to my CCD class. *Deflates* If I don't return from that horror, bon au revoir!
