Maintenance Days
11 April 2017 | Francis Bay, St. John USVI
Julie
We have taken some time out for maintenance. We had a whole list of little jobs that could have waited, but with the weather up in the Bahamas getting a little unsettled, we decided to stay in Francis Bay for a bit.
I've been waxing the stainless and cleaning the interior. Rick fixed the solar panel regulator, re-bedded one of the stanchions, replaced the chafe bars that had been removed for painting, and did his routing maintenance on the engines.
Thankfully, our cruising social life continued with Zhappy Hours with Bill and MaryAnn Roberts on Sealia. We look great in the anchorage together as they are also a red boat! Bill and MaryAnn are recent transplants from DC to Camden ME when they are on land, but we have known them since our Carib 1500 days. They introduced us to a young single-hammer from Miami ex of Colombia...Poalo on Mamu. He waxed poetic about Cartagena.....as a great destination for cruisers.....tempting.
We'll head over to Culebra tomorrow and take off for the Bahamas on Sunday...or whenever the weather looks best. With just the two of us on board for the 500+ mile passage to Mayaguana, we are interested in making it an easy trip.
