14 January 2014 | Boot Key Harbor
Capt. Vern
It's now after 9 pm on Tuesday and I'm just now sitting down to write the final blog for this trip. To sum up the trip from Ft. Myers to here, I would have to say it could have been better and then again it could have been worse. The weather was great for the full four days. I was worried about the shallow water for the first three days and worried about the lobster traps the last day. But we arrived here at 2:30 pm in good shape with no real problems along the way. We didn't have internet connection last night in Little Shark River, but there were four other boats in there with us so we didn't feel all alone. We were the first to anchor in Little Shark, but it wasn't long before the other boats started coming in. When we did arrive in Boot Key, we were greeted by our friends from Canada, Brian and Lynn. We also met up with our mutual friends, Steve and his wife Mary Ann. They came over to the Roam-A-Lot at 5 pm for a drink and then we all went down to Dockside for supper. It's been a long day so I will keep this short. We plan on renting a car tomorrow and drive back to Ft. Myers on Thursday to pick up our van. Will get back here at the boat Friday night. Plan on going to a nautical flea market on Big Pine Key on Saturday morning. We have two other couples coming down this week-end who will be here for at least a month. Walt and his wife Diane from up north will be coming down in their motorhome for a month and our friend, Rick and his wife Carol will be coming down with their boat to stay at Banana Bay Marina for about a month. We also ran into Chuck and his wife in there boat there boat the Whichaway, so we will be busy in the near future. Will write more when we have more to write about. Thanks for traveling along with us. ....................
