Your text to link...This was one of our shortest runs so far. Only 18 miles today and 12 miles of that was across Lake George. We left Georgetown Marina this morning at 6:50 and headed south toward Silver Glen Springs. It was about a 9 mile run to just outside the river. We anchored the Roam-A-Lot in about 8 feet of water about a quarter mile from the mouth of the river that leads into the Springs. I have read accounts on Active Captain of people taking 36' and 40' power boats all the way into the Springs with up to a 4' draft, but there is NO way I would try it. It must be a local knowledge thing. I had a hard time getting the dinghy in there! But, we did make it and did manage to take some video which I will be putting on here via You T ube. It's about seven minutes long, but it may give you an idea of what it looks like. The water was a cold 72 degrees and very clear. We didn't go in because we were chicken, but there were some people in the water. We just rode around taking pictures and after about an hour we returned to the boat at anchor. It was around 10 AM when we continued our trip south.
After leaving the south of Lake George the river gets smaller and there is more to sea. We saw our first alligator of the trip today. We arrived around 11:30 at the Blackwater Inn. This is not a marina. It is not a fish camp. It is not a boat yard. What it is, is an Inn with two restaurants. They have about 4-5 finger docks out front that they will rent to you if there is any space. We were lucky to get the largest dock here and the easiest one to get into and out of. After getting the boat tied to the dock, I went inside and found the owner. Asked how much the dockage would be per night and he said $18.00 which includes 30 amp power, water and WIFI. So I signed up for four nights. The total bill was $76.00. And the good thing about being here is that we don't have to take the dinghy to go hunt for a place to eat. It's about 50 feet in front of the boat. Rose and I couldn't stand it, so we had to try the lower floor restaurant for dinner tonight. She had the salmon and I had the prime rib. Both were out of this world! So was the bill. About half of what the dockage was. But it was a great meal. No complaints. We will just have to control ourselves in the future. The rain has found us again. But, it's not that bad when it rains after dark. Took a picture of the boat from the upstairs deli and will place that on the blog. So we are all set until Tuesday morning. It's nice not having to get up every morning and run the boat for however long. Just to have a few days of not having to do anything. I think that we will try our luck at fishing one more time tomorrow. Who knows, one of these days we might catch a fish! Until later,,,,,,,,,,,,,PS Click your text to link for video and also put pictures in photo galley.
