Day 77 Monday
04 August 2014 | Anchored south of Palatka,Fl.
Capt.Vern
it's time to start the blog back,at least for about a week. I think that on the last entry,we were still docked at Hontoon State park.Well since we could not leave the boat there unattended,Rose and I started our trip back north and arrived back at Blackwater Inn and docked at our same slip. We paid to leave the boat there for seven day's and planned what we were going to do next. After a lot of discussion,we finally decided that Rob would drive down from Daytona and pick us up,drive back to Daytona, where Rose could rent a car to drive to Ft. Myers. After we got her set up and on her way around 9am, Rob,Salty and I started towards Charleston. We got there around 3:30pm and went by the house to see if the renters were still there. They were and said they had 30 days to leave and were not going to pay the rent! I had one ace up my sleeve and that was that the power panel to the upstairs apt. was located in the downstairs part of the house. I simply turned off all power to the upstairs! About five minutes later they were asking what happened to the power and I told them that I would have to call a electrician to see what was wrong. The next day they were gone. So anyone out there that may be renting a place out,you may want to consider having some way to turn the power off on them without admitting you did it. When they have no lights or A/C and it's about 98 degrees outside they will run like rats! So after we got them out,Rob and I had to spend the entire next day cleaning the place up. Looked like a bunch of pig's were staying there. After a full day of cleaning,we finally got it to a point where it can be rented out again. We spent a couple of nights at my friends Bruces house, and then we were headed back to Fl. Rob brought me back to Astor,Fl. to the boat and dropped me off and he went on back to Daytona. Rose say's she is feeling a "little" better and she has her first appt. with her doctor tomorrow. Since it looks like it may be a week or more before she is able to return to the boat,Rob and I are in the process of taking the boat to Daytona to the marina where his boat is docked. I will get a slip there for the rest of the month of August and depending on Rose,we plan on leaving on our boats and heading to Marathon. We made 38 miles today and are anchored about 10 miles south of Palatka. We will leave here early in the morning and doc at the boathouse marina for Tuesday and Tuesday night. When we leave Wednesday,we plan on longer days so we should arrive in Daytona on Friday. I will keep the blog going until we dock at Daytona. Will stop after that until we leave for Marathon. So far everything is going ok. Salty is doing good, except for wanting to eat everything in sight. He has to have a little pig in his family history. The only big question right now is how Rose will be doing. I will spare you with the eating and all the small issue details. Didn't take any pictures today, but will tomorrow. Until then.........
