Visiting friends in Belbeze
21 August 2007 | Belbeze, Tarn & Garonne, France
Showery and windy
We are staying with our friends Dee and Liz at their beautiful French home, l'Ancien Presbytere, in the tiny village of Belbeze. The house, pictured here, is, at the oldest parts, 17th century. It has the most spectacular view across the Gimone valley. They have converted part of the house into a lovely gite, details at www.ancienpresbytere.net
Dee and Liz have done loads of work to the house, which was a wreck when they bought it. Now it's comfortable and beautiful, and decorated with Dee's photos and watercolours. Despite all their work, for personal reasons, they're returning to the UK after five years in France. If you're interested in a gorgeous home in the Midi-Pyrenees (with a going gite business), then look at the details on www.ancienpresbytere.squarespace.com.
In the meantime, we have enjoyed a pretty straightforward trip on France's reliable and fast (but crowded and expensive) trains, and a very pleasant couple of days here. Tomorrow we are moving on to see Bernard and Mary at their house which, purely by coincidence, is not far from here.
