Engine problem has been fixed. Acutually she runs better than ever before. Whoever did the timing of the motor, had set it off by 180 degrees. Tomorrow the mast goes up, with new wiring, led lights, Raymaine wind, vhf, etc. We are trying a new Diy SSB arial made from rope that has the core removed (except first & last 2 feet , & then inserted a 12g wire, stole the idea from the web. Apparently it worked very well, so we will see.

Engine woes!

The new wiring is installed in the mast, will attach the lights etc on the morning the mast goes up, so nothing gets broken in the yard. The engine refuses to start! put it down to dumb things we do sometimes. After cleaning the tank, replacing the fuel filter, taking off the carb & cleaning it, changing the points, condenser, & rotor, new plugs & gapping everything, the engine would not start. On checking the Moyer Atomic site a few minutes ago, I discovered that I may have (probably)screwed up the plug leads. Will check at lunch time.. At least I now have a clean fuel system & a new electical system.

Heading for the water

It's been a while since our last post. All the new bronze thru hulls are now installed, including the speed & depth thru hulls for the new raymarine instruments. The compaion way hatch is installed, hull painted with vc17 antifoul. We are going to splash on Friday so hope there are no leaks!!! with all the new thru hulls. We had one setback that has kept us busy for a while & it is still not completly finnished, but should be by Friday. We had water enter part of the side deck, from under one of the stantions, we discovered the problem when the weather warmed up & the water that had entered the deck unfroze. It had split the fiberglass inside the cuboard. It has almost been completed, at least from the outside, but still have some work to do from the inside.

Spring has finally arrived up here.

Spring has finally arrived up here. The snow has almost gone & the ice is breaking up fast. We have added a new link on the side bar to our Picasa Web Photo Album which is easier for us to maintain. We have installed a new stove, & are currently working on the thru hulls. The thru hulls have been removed & new fiberglass backing plates were glassed in yesterday. Today we should be able to install the thru hulls & the sea cocks. Jen has been busy doing the cabin floor, the old one was split in many places, so we removed it & are in the process of cleanning the hull up, ready for a coat of bilge paint. We will then put down the copper mesh (for the SSB Ground Plane) & intall a new Teak & Holly floor. We cut down the floor on the port side (was 4 inches higher) so we now have a flush floor, no more banging toes. As can be seen from the photos we revised the nav panels from the the first design. The radar screen is hinged & can be pulled out so it can be seen when you pop your head through the companion way instead of having to step down into the cabin. Anyway off to do more work.
