Mexico 2014 Summer Vacation Commences

14 May 2014
Tim and I are planning to leave early in the morning for our next adventure!!! We should get to the boat in San Carlos after about a 8 hour road trip, hopefully all goes well at the border. Our plan is to stick to the blogging and post many new pictures of our Summer adventures! So stay tuned!

Boom Boom van has some serious goodies in tow! We have bought an A/C unit, an ice maker, 2 standup paddle boards... towels, rafts... so much stuff, I am beginning to wonder if we are gonna get it all to fit :) But we are super excited to have COOL air on the boat, ice cubes in the beverages, and try out all our new toys!

And as always there are many projects that awaits us... First and foremost, the painting of the bottom of Sababa, once we get her back in the water, it will hopefully be smooth sailing, HA!

Tim and I shall update as much as we can and as often as we can, depending on the internet that is of course! We can most always be reached via cell phone dial as shown from the US: 011 52 1322 779 2259 or Skype, Facebook, Email, or on here! More later! Buenos Dias!

Chilling in Mexico

09 January 2010 | La Cruz de Huanacaxtle
So it's past time for an update on here. We're in La Cruz now, which is in Banderas bay. My parents have been with me since leaving San Diego in early December. We had a great trip down the Baja with just one stop in Turtle bay for a few days. We spent Christmas in Cabo San Lucas which was quite different fromt the days of feasting we do at home, we had Jonny Rockets and went to see Avatar. We had a great crossing from Cabo to Banderas bay. My brother and his wife flew in for New Years and we had a few days in PV at my folk's timeshare. You really enjoy a full bath and shower after a few weeks on the boat. I've decided to hang around La Cruz for a bit. My parents are going home in a few days so I'll have to boat to myself again and I'm just going to chill out for awhile. I update facebook pretty often so look me up on there if ya feel like it. www.facebook.com/sailorslife

Alright round two

13 October 2009 | Arizona/San Diego
Ok so I didn't make it South last fall. I ended up working a long term contract in Arizona and missing the season to head out. So I did a backpacking trip to South East Asia for 3 months and finished some projects on Sababa. Now I'm once again ready to head to Mexico in December when I finish work here in Arizona. Hope to keep this blog a bit more updated :-)

Well we made it.

Well we made it to San Diego on the 17th. We had everything from fog and no wind to 30kt, at least it wasn't on the nose though.. It was a great trip but way way too rushed. After Coos Bay, OR we didn't have any over night stops. We stoped in Eureka for fuel, shower and a pizza. Then we had complete fog until South of SF. Which without radar is a bit anoying at first but ya get used to it after a day or two. Our next stop was in Santa Cruz, I really wish we could have stayed longer, what a beautiful area for sure, but alas just time for fuel shower and food we didn't have to make. We had a nice sail out of Monterey Bay until sunset when the wind fell out on us. Point Conception was uncomfortable, beam seas and 30kt reported on NOAA but I don't have wind instruments to verify, there was plenty of wind however fast it was. The Santa Barbara channel was beautiful. Seeing the oil rigs at night is actually really cool. We didn't have time to stop at any of the channel islands which was a total bummer for sure. We did get visited by around 25 dolphins which was amazing. We were also passed by about 15 pilot whales, so beautiful. Those two encounters were my favorite part of the trip for sure. Then we we're boarded by the Coast Guard for a safety inspection, which was actually kinda cool because it gave us chance to visit with somebody, we passed the inspection of coarse. Then after a very slow trip through San Diego harbor we finally tied up in our slip at Chula Vista Marina. After all of 30 min at the dock we caught a ride to the airport and hopped a flight back to Portland. It's really weird to spend two weeks getting somewhere and then be right back where you left from two hours and seven minutes later. Well after a terrible night of rocking in my sleep I headed South again, this time a little inland on the I-5. I'm back in Phoenix working until November then I'll meet back up with Sababa and head to Mexico.

Maytag seas

Tim
Well we left Astoria last Tuesday and had a decent overnight sail to Newport, Oregon before the weather shut us down. There were 14 other boats heading south stuck there too.. We finally left early this morning and just pulled into Coos Bay.. It was a very rolly trip, had to hand stear all day through rough seas, not fun at all.. The bar crossing here at Coos was hair raising to say the least, breaking seas made for an andventure for sure..

We're staying here until thursday then heading to Cali, and hope to get into some good weather..

Ready to Turn Left!!

Well I hauled Sababa out of the water last week and painted the bottom, I also finished a few other projects.
Now I'm at the Astoria marina finishing a few projects getting ready to head south monday or tuesday.. Getting excited to get to Cali and back to work at PV.
