Cayo Norte
26 February 2014 | Cayo Norte, Mexico
I finally figured out that funny smell whenever we get into tight places like San Pedro pass and today, Xcalac pass. It is the smell of terror & fear :0 - not the captain's of course but Angel & I. The rocks and debris on the reef guarding this shallow pass was way too scary. The beautiful, pleasant 7-8 knot beam reach sail for most of the day more than made up for it. The day went so fast that before we knew it, we were working our way into Cayo Norte.
The indigo seas turned bright emerald inside yet another reef. Unlike the previous ones, the entrance on this one was wide and deep. Aside from almost anchoring atop corals, all went well. SV Contento gave us a dinghy ride to shore to water Angel and Buster. The navy personnel met us at the beach to tell us that pets aren't allowed there. This was after the dogs were done with their business.
Our autopilot is still making funny noises so the captain took it apart today. The engine has been behaving so, we'll see what happens tomorrow.
Another day in paradise, Angel, Marie & Steve
