First few days outside of Newport
10 August 2009 | Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard
Sunny and warm!
After a lovely sail from Newport to Cuttyhunk, we overnighted at anchor and then made our way to Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard. We had a wonderful sail - the boat hit 9 knots on our way here!! We are rafted up with another sailboat for a few days in this tight harbor. It is beautiful here, and we are adapting to life on board!! School started this morning - not a full course, but enough to get into the routine. We'll see if we can manage a few hours/day - it's a lot of work for the parents too as there's no time to do chores while school is in session!
Today the kids and Scott rented bikes to explore part of the island, while Jen walked around Oak Bluffs to see the cute "Gingerbread Houses" and to get some shopping done. We'll spend another day here - before we head further north. Hope that gives you all an update of what we've been up to!
