I have really been in a frump and have ignored emails and friends but summer is here and it is hot. Life is good again! The lawn and the garden looks great! I planted 4 kinds of tomatoes and 3 kinds of peppers along with herbs. I have flowers in baskets all over and it is lovely to sit and watch the water skiers and activity on the lake. It is hard being away from our boat for the summer but thank fully we are not away from water.
I picked up a cast aluminum Waffle Iron for the stove top and have been trying out some new recipes. Picture sitting in the cockpit with a chocolate waffle topped with my home made ice cream. I found a fabulous Black Bean Salsa recipe and yesterday the Pot Stickers were a huge success. I don't know why I didn't try them sooner. We are always looking for good appetizers to go with the Sundowners!
I have been reading others sail blogs to see how all of our friends are doing. Many of them are on land like we are so we are not so very jealous.
This weekend is the 4th of July and Steve and I have some time to ourselves for a few days. Steve turned 60 a few days ago so I am taking him out for a good old Wisconsin Friday Night Fish Fry.
Here is the Old Salt working on this 1981 Kawasaki 1000 that he picked up to occupy his time. He stripped the bike and ordered parts on the internet. All parts are here and today he is putting it back together. If all goes well we will be riding this on Saturday......if all goes well. Oops, more parts need to be ordered so we stole my son's Harley for our Friday night outing and it was wonderful. The place as knotty pine and the perfect intro for Steve's into the world of the Wisconsin Fish Fry.
As I sit here I am hearing Fireworks and know it will be a few nights before we sleep well. The neighbors had a great display we could see from the patio.
Steve's bike is running but it is a bit rough. Some fine tuning needs to be done but that has to be put on hold for a bit. My Dearest Love has left me for Seattle for a month. He is helping his brother with remodeling and visiting family. I will join him toward the end of his trip to meet a few relatives that I have not met yet. Seattle is really beautiful and I would love to get Sailacious intoThe Sound some day, but then I would love to get her into the Great Lakes as well.
