Liquid Sunshine
We arrived in Dominica on Wednesday. There are many boats in the anchorage we know, more boats keep coming and some going daily. This lush mountainous island has so much rain the it boasts 365 rivers. Our water tank is full and Steve even filed a five gallon jug so we could keep catching. The rain is called liquid sunshine and it makes beautiful rainbows. They say on a full moon you might even see a moonbow.
I got a group together for water aerobics in the mornings but it just isn't the same without our leader, Willie. Still we manage to keep up on all important gossip. We had a great sundowner party on the beach Saturday night. Wonderful appetizers were shared by a group of about 10 boats. Sunday night was the big BBQ put on by the PAYS boat boys. These guys run around the anchorage and will organize tours, laundry, dive trips, etc. They basically provide all the yacht services that one could want as well as provide security in the anchorage. Last night a full house enjoyed grilled chicken and fish served with all the rum punch you could drink. For some this was more than they should have drank! But a good time was had by all with dancing and laughter, greeting old friends and meeting new.
Tomorrow we move down the island to tour a distillery that uses a water wheel to grind the sugar cane. After one night there we head to the main port of Roseau ..........
