Heading back to America
02 March 2015
Yes, people actually do read this blog and I have been told by a few that I need to post an update on our plans. Most of you know that Sailacious has been listed with a broker so we are taking her back to Florida. We have enjoyed our stint as volunteer parks hosts in the beautiful Virgin Islands National Park for the past three months, as we have enjoyed all of the Caribbean islands we have visited over the last five years. But new adventures are waiting.....
Our final destination is Tampa Bay. After hauling the boat and making sure she is ready for interested parties that are boat shopping, we head back to the motor home in the Seattle area. We always used to say that our plans are written in the sand at low tide, now we will need a new land based expression that still allows us to change our plans as the wind changes the sand formations in the desert. That said, our only firm deadline is to be in southern Utah by July 15th for a commitment as camp host for Bryce Canyon National Park for three months.
Steve is already looking for the 'perfect for us' trawler. I am hoping he doesn't find it for about a year but if he does then I know it really will be perfect. You know what they say about the perfect boat: it isn't the boat on the cover of a magazine or at the boat show - but it is the boat that you can afford and gets you out there to live your dream. That next dream is the Great Loop. We plan to take our time and only travel during pleasant weather so the the 5,000 to 7,000 mile journey should take us three seasons. Barring a sand storm, we should be starting that adventure in less than a year.
